It’s Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. What is Lent? Lent is the period of time that occupies the 40 days prior to Easter. In short, it’s a season of sacrifice as we prepare to celebrate a risen Savior and reflect on the greatest sacrifice of all. Even that sounds a bit hard to digest. This year we committed to digging in to all traditions related to our faith, heritage, etc, their meaning, and observe what we felt we should, etc. While normally this would send me into a tizzy of typing and researching, in this instance, I’m grateful for beautiful, amazing souls like Jennifer Naraki who have gone before us and done the work. We will be using her guide, Rich + Rooted Passover as a family to journey through the scriptural truths of Lent in these next 40 days together.
Even if you don’t homeschool, this is an amazing resource to help you walk your kids through such a meaningful season. The truth of God’s word, paired with hands on activities to help these truths become more palpable for the littles. ( You can download your guide here. ) It really is a beautiful book pointed in slowing us down to connect as a family with our Creator. Even if you don’t do all the activities – in fact, she suggests pre-reading and deciding what works for you and yours – this is still such a valuable resource. May you have a very blessed Lent season.
