review: freshly picked moccasins, picked or plucked?

ITEM UP FOR REVIEW: Freshly Picked Moccasins for the littles

MY THOUGHTS: well..i’m going to cut straight to it. there is a reason mama’s (looks at self in the mirror) are obsessed with these little cuties. they are simply one of the best baby shoes I’ve ever come across. i wish they would have been around when T was little, this is all he would have worn! my favorite feature has to be how easy they are to put on. they ‘pull-apart’ so easily, and retain their shape. little PZ is not a fan of most shoes, which i learned the hard way, but when it comes to her moccs, she doesn’t even realize i’m putting them on…because they are that easy to dress!

these little cuties are made of genuine bonafide leather and come in a variety of colors. our fav’s right now are the limited edition frosted rose. i mean, metallic pink moccasins!?! does it get any cuter?

the other feature that really makes a mama happy…THEY STAY ON. yes, even though crazy baby kicking legs, these bad boys stay on. and not in some weird, awkward bondage sort of way, aka velcro. being an avid baby wearer (more posts on that coming soon), i can put PZ in her ergo or boba and not have to worry about losing a shoe! i can’t tell you how many times that happened with T—to the point he literally was just barefoot all the time…but then his little tootsies would get so cold, or dirty. and as cute as baby feet are, let’s be honest…cleaning those tiny little toes, is not an easy task!

major plus? they are ergonomically safe. do you know how hard it is to find fashionable and comfortable goods for kiddos that aren’t a detriment to their development? i love, love, love that these moccs surround PZ’s feet, but they don’t bind them or prohibit them from their natural shape or flexion. i can let her wear these everyday, all day, and not have to worry about any sort of pressure or tension being placed on her developing muscles and joints. i’d say that’s a major win!

ps – the come with the cutest little drawstring bag, its perfect for holding little items in your diaper bag!

eats: chili chicken pasta (skillet or bake)

if your house is anything like ours, it gets crazy once everyone is home from work and school.  especially with a newborn in the house.  since i’ve had the ‘luxury’ of being a stay at home mom again, i’ve been able to get back into the grove of meal planning.  so from my sanity, to hopefully your’s, here’s one of the meals we lined up for this week.

    • 2 large organic, free-range chicken breast (fully cooked and chopped
    • 1 box of organic whole wheat penne (or pasta of your choice)
    • 1 can of organic fire roasted tomatoes (Muir Glen is our favorite! PS – make sure if you are buying canned tomatoes, you are buying them from a company that DOES NOT use BPA to line their cans!)
    • 1 pack of chili seasoning or 4 tablespoons of a DIY mix, find the awesome recipe here, we keep our own mix on hand at all times.  its a perfect hearty seasoning.
    • 1 1/2 cups of organic chicken broth
    • 1 bag of organic shredded cheese, about 2 cups do the trick but its to personal taste (optional, but super tasty when you make it as a bake)
    1. If you are going to do the bake, pre-heat oven to 450.
    2. Boil water and prepare pasta per instructions.
    3. In separate sauce pan, combine tomatoes, chili seasoning and chicken broth.  Heat until bubbles start to rise and then return sauce to a simmer.
    4. Add cooked pasta and chicken into the sauce mixture and stir.
    5. If you are opting for the skillet method, then, ta-da!  You’re done, scoop out servings, sprinkle with cheese and serve.
    6. If you are opting for the bake, compile all those amazing ingredients into a 9×13 dish, top with cheese and bake for 10-15 minutes until top is brown.  Remove, cool for 5-10 min and serve.  Yum!

just a thought: my first MOPS

yesterday, i was fortunate enough to join a dear friend for my first MOPS class.  crossing it off the bucket list.

i know that seems like a simple and not very exciting task, but it was something that i’ve wanted to do since before i had T, and surprisingly, i had a blast.  it was a wonderful time of fellowship with other women, plus a little hand to hand combat, i mean…self defense training from grandmaster brenda sell.  before she taught us how to kick butt, she shared some very awesome words of wisdom:

    • you are worth defending.  you have to believe in your self worth, and that you are something worth fighting for.
    • where does your mind go when it wanders?  don’t let this be an open door for fear and self doubt.
    • what are you living in bondage to?  fear?  or the faith and freedom of something greater.

we all have true value, and as women, we need to learn to love ourselves and be confident in who we were created to be.  hope you guys have a wonderful wednesday.  xx – ash
